Do I understand correctly that you favor research in the open, as opposed to the kind of research that the many for-profit companies are doing to try to win marketshare with their alternatives to animal products?

I meant, is the Food System Research Fund inundated with lots of exciting research proposals, which they can't all fund, such that there's definitely need for more funding in this space? Or is it the case that barely anyone submits research proposals, showing there isn't much appetite/ability to do this currently.
Re open research - definitely! I think open-access research is pretty essential to good information sharing and therefore updating our strategies accordingly. Obviously this is context-dependent so it makes sense in the non-profit sector, but for-profit companies clearly have different incentives.
